Las Vegas Shoot
We were also in Las Vegas
this month shooting the "Greatest Gamble"
episode. Ray told Kirk that there was no way the
casino managers would allow them to film in an
actual casino because of the thought that if a
viewer noticed his local bank manager gambling
in the background, it wouldn't be good for business.
But God opened doors, and we opened the shoot
with Kirk and Ray in the casino, sitting at a
blackjack table. Kirk looked up at the camera,
nudged Ray and said, "Um…it's not what
it seems...we are actually here filming for another
episode of 'The Way of the Master'. We are going
to ask people, 'What is the greatest gamble anyone
can take?'"
We had a briefcase filled with million
dollar bill tracts, with $20 bills on the
top of each bundle. We also had a starting gun
(which looked like the real thing) on top of the
money. We asked people if they would gamble their
lives by playing Russian roulette (with three
bullets in a six shooter) for ten million dollars.
One young one man was actually going to do it.
He said, "Fifty/fifty chance for ten millions
dollars. Sure!" When he grabbed the gun and
took it towards his head Ray grabbed his hand,
and said, "This is a fake gun. What are you
doing? Do you love money more than your life?"
It was an interesting interview.
Of course, the greatest gamble of
all is to say that there is no hell, because you
bet your life on the fact that you are right.
Please continue to pray for Duane and Ron as they
edit this material. |

| University
of Oklahoma
Kirk and Ray were at the University
of Oklahoma this month for their "Jesus Week."
They had a wonderful time preaching and teaching
and were able to obtain some fascinating video
interviews for future "The
Way of the Master" TV programs.
During one of the interviews, Kirk
"crossed swords" with a defiant young
man in a long dark trench coat (see picture).
Kirk reasoned with him about his sin and need
of God’s forgiveness, but "Frank"
(not his real name) said he didn't believe in
Heaven, Hell, or the validity of the Bible.
On the surface, Kirk's witnessing
encounter (in front of a crowd that had gathered
to over a hundred people) could seem to have been
unproductive. Hearing those kinds of denials can
feel like hitting a brick wall. However we walk
by faith, not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7) ...and things
are not always what they seem.
Two nights later (after Kirk and
Ray had already left) the trench coat clad young
man showed up again. A member of our ministry
team, who had been there both nights, recognized
him and pointed him out to Mark
Cahill. (Mark is a fellow evangelist, and
friend of the ministry, who was slated as the
guest speaker that evening.) So before Mark took
the podium, he headed over to talk with Frank
personally. The young man Mark spoke to was no
longer defiant, but seemed humble and questioning.
Within two nights God had used the Law, planted
by Kirk, to plow up the stony ground of his heart.
While talking with him, Mark mentioned a
book he had written... and Frank asked for
a copy (which Mark gladly gave him). He ended
the conversation by encouraging Frank to stay
and listen. For a time it seemed he might not--
in fact he got up and "left" twice;
but both times he returned... and in the end he
had listened to almost the entire evangelistic
message. Afterwards he approached Mark and told
him he thought he was a great speaker. Then Mark
was able to spend quite a while with him, discussing
other questions he had.
From Kirk's perspective, two days
earlier, the witnessing encounter didn't seem
to go that well... it didn't even seem to make
a dent in Frank's resistance. But from God's perspective,
that encounter, and Kirk's obedience despite the
apparent "poor result," was key to opening
this young man's mind and heart. You see, Frank
did not come to be a part of "Jesus Week,"
he simply happened to be walking across campus
when approached by Kirk. If Kirk had not planted
the seed, Frank would certainly not have come
back to listen to an hour-long evangelistic message.
So just remember that despite the
resistance you may encounter, you are NOT wasting
your time when you plant those seeds. And the
next time you feel like you may have had a not-so-successful
witnessing encounter, remember that God's word
is living and active, sharper than any two-edged
sword... and it cannot return void. (By the way,
please pray for Frank's salvation.) |

4:00 a.m. Wake-up
Call ::..
This one sent
in by Sherry
P., Sun Lakes,
Arizona
I just wanted
to tell you
that The
Way of the Master
is phenomenal.
I am feeling
much more equipped
to share my
faith without
intimidation.
Last Saturday
morning at 4:00
a.m. the Lord
awakened me
with an urgency
to go and share
with my Mother-in-law.
She was raised
Mormon but now
attends a Methodist
church because
she says she
prefers 1 hour
sermons to their
3 hours. I
called her that
morning and
went over to
visit. When
she started
talking about
her family wanting
her to come
back to the
Mormon church,
I asked her
if she thinks
about eternal
things. She
replied yes
and I asked
her if she died
tonight, did
she think she
would go to
heaven? When
she said she
hoped so, it
was a perfect
opening for
me to say--Would
you like to
take a test
to find out?
I then led her
through the
Do you think
you are a good
person. She
decided she
was headed for
hell with all
of her friends
and she laughed
and said she
wasn't concerned.
When I described
to her what
the Bibles says
hell is like,
her lip began
to quiver and
I shared with
her about Jesus
and what God
had done for
her because
He loves her.
We prayed together
and she received
Jesus. She was
weeping and
thanking me
for coming over
and talking
to her. She
hugged me tight
for a long time
and later when
I went to leave,
she started
weeping again
out of gratefulness.
She was a different
woman when I
left. You are
right--people
will thank you!
I am praising
God for that
awesome privilege
and also for
your program
and online course,
and for your
boldness to
do this. I am
praying for
you and this
ministry. This
is long overdue--Keep
on preaching
the truth!

Reaching Cody
::..
This
one sent in
by Luke, San
Luis Obispo,
California
Last week my
mom, my girlfriend's
mom, and her
little brother
Cody came to
watch me run
in a track race.
They were taking
me home from
college for
spring break
and I sat in
the back seat
next to Cody,
who is only
eight. I had
recently downloaded
the "teach
kids the Ten
Commandments"
power point,
(which is incredible
by the way),
and felt God
prompting me
to go through
it with him.
I
knew the little
guy was smart
but I couldn't
believe how
fast he learned
all the Ten
Commandments.
As I expounded
the spiritual
nature of the
Law and told
him how Christ
tells us to
look with lust
is adultery
of the heart,
he said "so
does that mean
I shouldn't
make mean faces
at girls or
stick my tongue
out at them?"
It was pretty
cute and I did
my best to help
him understand.
He admitted
he had lied
but said "hasn't
every one?"
I told him that
didn't matter...
"God will
judge us all
individually...
and you've broken
that one, right?"
He said "ya."
After going
through the
whole presentation
he really understood
it well and
definitely seemed
to be convicted.
At one point
he said, "This
thing is really
good, it makes
you realize
everything inside
that you never
let out."
(In other words,
"sin .")
I asked him
if he had friends
that had broken
the Ten Commandments
and he said
he did. So I
said, "Then
they would be
guilty and go
to Hell and
you don't want
that right?"
He said, "No
way." I
lead the evangelism
training team
at Cal Poly-SLO
so I opened
the WDJD outline
I had made and
began to equip
him with questions
you guys have
taught me. We
talked through
some simulated
conversations
(he's one smart
eight year old)
and then the
ride got quiet
and we put our
heads down to
sleep. After
about 20 minutes
went by I looked
over and he
was sitting
there with his
head resting
on his folded
hands praying.
He prayed for
about 1 1/2
minutes and
when he finished
I said "Hey
Cody... Were
you just praying
man?" He
said "ya,"
so asked what
he was saying.
He looked at
me with watery
eyes and said,
"I was
just asking
God to forgive
me for all my
sins and I said
I was sorry
for everything
I had ever done
wrong."
I was so encouraged
and asked him
if he asked
Jesus to come
into his heart?
He said "Oh,
I guess I forgot
that part."
I kinda chuckled
with tears forming
in my eyes and
said "That's
ok buddy. He
still heard
your prayer!"
Thank for providing
this
tool it
was so timely
and the Lord
used it to draw
Cody to himself...
...This little
guy has only
been a Christian
a few days and
he's already
becoming a soul
winner! Praise
the Lord, the
faith of a child
is amazing.
Thanks again
and God Bless,
Luke
