Four Workers
Four workers were building a wooden storage shed in my back yard. I brought them pizza for lunch, water to quench their thirst, and thanked them for their quality work. I had determined to share the gospel with these guys, so when I noticed that one of them was wearing a cross, I asked if he had a Christian background. Two said they had been baptized Catholic.
I said, "Oh, I have something for you," and gave them both a penny that has the 10 Commandments pressed into them. They seemed intrigued, and as they began to put them in their wallets, I asked one man if he though he'd kept the 10 Commandments. He looked embarrassed and admitted that, like everyone, he probably had his weaknesses.
We went through 3 of the 10 Commandments and he admitted to breaking all of them. I then reasoned about sin, righteousness, judgment, and Hell. Then I helped them understand God's wonderful, amazing, grace in the Cross. I pointed to the man's cross as proof that God loves them by sending His Son to die for them. I explained that they must repent and trust Jesus with all their hearts because He is the One who paid the price for their sin. They seemed appreciative for the talk, so I drove to the bookstore and got them each a New Testament. I encouraged them to get their hearts right with God as soon as possible by repenting and trusting in Jesus, and then obey Jesus' words in the Bible as proof of their love for Him.
I gave each of the workers a tip for their hard work, and thanked them for talking with me. As one of them was thanking me in return, I was surprised to see that of all things, he was thanking me for the little penny with the Commandments that made his cross make sense.
